Babysitter in California gets 100 years in prison for providing boyfriend with girls to molest

A California babysitter, who specialized in caring for children with special needs, has been sentenced to 100 years in prison for sexually abusing children and providing them to her boyfriend.

Brittney Mae Lyon, 31, pleaded guilty to multiple felony charges, including lewd acts upon a child, kidnapping, and residential burglary. Her boyfriend and co-defendant, Samuel Cabrera, was previously sentenced to eight life terms without parole.

According to San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan, Lyon procured at least four young girls for Cabrera, two of whom were seven years old and two of whom were just three.

Two of the victims were diagnosed with autism, and one was non-verbal. The abuse came to light when the mother of a seven-year-old girl contacted police after her daughter revealed the abuse she endured.

A police investigation uncovered a locked box in Cabrera's car containing hundreds of videos of the children being sexually abused, and at times, being drugged or assaulted with extreme cruelty.

Authorities also found dozens of videos that Lyon had secretly recorded of women and girls in changing rooms, bathrooms, and locker rooms.

Despite her 100-year sentence, Lyon may be eligible for parole in less than 30 years under California’s elder parole law, which allows some inmates over the age of 50 to be considered for parole after serving at least 20 years.

District Attorney Stephan has expressed concern about this legal loophole, stating that it could allow Lyon to be released after serving just a fraction of her sentence.
