Dwayne Johnson tried to join The Devil Wears Prada 2, even offered to wear size 15 heels

Dwayne Johnson has revealed that he once tried to secure a role in The Devil Wears Prada 2, the upcoming sequel starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt.

Riding high on the success of The Smashing Machine, Johnson told Entertainment Weekly that he pitched himself for a small part—even one that required him to walk in “size 15 heels.”

Johnson and Blunt recently worked together on The Smashing Machine, a film based on the life of MMA fighter Mark Kerr.

During that time, Blunt was filming The Devil Wears Prada 2, prompting Johnson to share his interest in joining the star-studded cast.

“I pitched myself. I told her when she was shooting,” Johnson said, a claim Blunt quickly confirmed, adding that he indeed made an attempt to get involved.

The 53-year-old actor explained that he envisioned playing “someone who knew fashion, who was cool,” though Blunt reminded him the role would require wearing heels.

“Size 15 heels!” Johnson exclaimed, prompting Blunt to joke that he actually looked good in them. “You should see him in a pair of heels. Hot,” she teased.

Although Johnson didn’t land the role, Blunt kept him connected to the production by sending behind-the-scenes videos from New York City. Johnson recalled her excitement as she filmed the bustling streets and on-set atmosphere. “It was wild. Like, pop star level sighting,” he said.

Directed by David Frankel and based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set for release on May 1, 2026. The original film premiered in June 2006 and has since become a beloved classic.
