Crypto Markets Hold Steady Ahead of Tense Week for Geopolitics and Tech Earnings

Cryptocurrency markets entered the week in a quiet state of consolidation, with total market capitalization holding near $2.3 trillion as traders monitor an array of global economic and geopolitical catalysts. Bitcoin continues to trade within a tight range near $64,700, locked between support at $62,000 and resistance at $65,000.

While price action remains subdued on the surface, market participants are bracing for potential volatility as key macro drivers converge over the coming days.

Escalating geopolitical instability in the Middle East remains a primary source of anxiety for global markets.

Following a ninth consecutive night of military strikes, the United States has expanded operations to secure commercial shipping lanes around the Strait of Hormuz.

The ongoing disruption has pushed Brent crude oil past $90 per barrel, raising fresh concerns over renewed inflationary pressures.

Rising energy costs historically weigh on traditional equity markets, leaving digital assets vulnerable to broader shifts in risk appetite.

At the same time, traders are keeping a close watch on a sequence of major economic reports scheduled for later in the week.

Initial jobless claims are set for release on Thursday, followed by Friday's S&P Global Manufacturing and Services Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) data, which will offer a fresh reading on economic growth momentum.

Despite energy price headwinds, analysts generally expect the broader cooling trend in inflation to remain intact.

According to the CME FedWatch Tool, markets are currently pricing in an 85.6% probability that the Federal Reserve will hold interest rates steady at its upcoming policy meeting on July 29, providing a stable macro backdrop for risk assets.

Market sentiment will also face a key test from the corporate sector as Big Tech kicks off its second-quarter earnings cycle.

Heavyweights Alphabet and Tesla are scheduled to report on Wednesday, followed by Intel on Thursday.

Given the strong historical correlation between cryptocurrency prices and tech equities, these earnings updates are expected to set the tone for risk assets heading into the weekend.

From a technical perspective, Bitcoin managed to secure a weekly candle closure above its 200-week simple moving average, offering a favorable signal for long-term investors.

However, market analysts caution that a sustained breakout above the 200-week exponential moving average will be required to confirm a definitive trend change and break the current sideways momentum.
