Vinicius Junior agrees to join Arsenal, waits for Real Madrid's decision

Vinicius Junior has not yet reached an agreement with Real Madrid over a new contract. Premier League champions Arsenal are keen to sign the Brazilian star amid the stalemate. The Athletic reported that the 26-year-old winger is ready to join the London club if talks with Real fail. 

However, Arsenal is not yet Vinicius' first choice. His main goal is to stay at Real Madrid. To that end, he has agreed to reduce some of his financial demands to advance contract renewal negotiations.

The report said that Real Madrid have made it clear to Vinicius that no better financial offer will be made beyond the current proposal. Although both parties are interested in extending the contract, there are differences of opinion on certain financial issues.

The main complication is not the monthly salary. Rather, it is about a one-time bonus at the time of contract renewal. Real is traditionally reluctant to pay such bonuses. But Vinicius is expecting a similar financial package to the huge signing bonus Kylian Mbappe received when he joined from PSG.

Real president Florentino Pérez sees Vinicius as the future of the team. Vinicius, on the other hand, has repeatedly stated publicly that he wants to continue his career at the Santiago Bernabéu. That is why he has indicated that he will soften his position a bit in order to make the negotiations successful. 

However, Arsenal are ready to take full advantage if an agreement is not reached in the end. The club is willing to break their traditional salary structure if necessary to bring Vinicius to the team. The Gunners believe that a world-class footballer like him can take the team to new heights.

According to Spanish daily Diario AS, Real Madrid currently controls 50 percent of Vinicius' image rights. If Arsenal offer a large signing bonus as well as a larger share of the image rights to Vinicius, their financial package could become more attractive than Real's offer.

However, the possibility of a transfer still depends entirely on Real's position. If the negotiations are resolved, Vinicius is most likely to stay at the Bernabeu. And only if the agreement breaks down can Arsenal's offer become a reality.
